Danielle N. Petaja
Danielle advises management and HR professionals on the impact of labor and employment law across an array of industries, from banking and finance, healthcare and insurance to energy, retail, hospitality and communications. She is also knowledgeable about the application of these laws on public employers, associations and trade groups, manufacturers, higher education and in government contracting.
Danielle counsels clients through human resources challenges, including investigating complaints of discrimination and retaliation, wage and hour compliance, employee layoffs and reductions in force, leave administration, and disability-related issues. She also collaborates with clients in creating and maintaining employee handbooks and policies, including application and hiring procedures and discipline policies. Danielle prepares position and mediation statements in response to allegations of employment discrimination and unfair labor charges. Danielle also advocates for clients in employment discrimination suits, seeking or defending against injunctive and permanent relief in post-employment restrictive covenant litigation.
Prior to private practice, Danielle was a law clerk to the Hon. Sean D. Wallace in the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County, Maryland.
In addition to her state bar admissions, Danielle is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the District of Maryland and the Eastern District of Virginia.
