Overview

Hal Morris is general counsel of Saul Ewing. He draws on this experience — as well as his insight from teaching Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility at the University of Chicago Law School — to assist law firms and other attorneys who are facing claims related to the practice of law, including malpractice. His work includes handling matters involving loss prevention, legal ethics, claim management, attorney-client privilege, work product privilege and the unauthorized practice of law.

In addition, his practice is focused in the areas of appellate law and complex commercial and governmental representations. He has substantial appellate experience before both state and federal appellate courts.

He also has extensive first chair trial experience and has obtained numerous precedent establishing appellate opinions in the areas of municipal law, insurance coverage, and federal and state procedure.

Hal has spoken extensively on various aspects of appellate practice, litigation, procedure, alternative dispute resolution, insurance coverage, municipal law, and corporate governance. He has addressed continuing legal education seminars, client groups, community organizations, trade associations and local government groups. Hal has authored and contributed to numerous publications including:
