David Shapiro to chair ethics session at the 25th Annual Philadelphia Tax Conference
Ethical Issues in the Modern Global Tax Practice

David G. Shapiro, a partner in the Tax Practice, is a member of the Conference Advisory Board for the annual Philadelphia Tax Conference, scheduled for November 5-6, 2014.

In addition, Mr. Shapiro will chair a session on November 5 from 9:50 to 10:50 a.m. that will cover ethical issues that have arisen from recent changes in audit procedures and the advent of global  audits. The panel discussion will feature Linda Galler, from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, and Diane M. Ring, with Boston College Law School.

Topics that will be addressed include:

  • The new LB&I IDR procedures, especially when relating to cross-border transactions
  • Coordinated examinations and information exchange between multiple taxing authorities
  • Privilege, especially in connection with a taxpayer’s “reasonable cause” defense
