Lizza Tapped to Speak at Patent Litigation Workshop for Judges and Law Clerks
December 5, 2013

On December 5, 2013, Charles M. Lizza, a partner in the Newark office, in his capacity as a member of the District of New Jersey’s Local Patent Rules Committee, spoke at a workshop for federal Judges and their law clerks entitled “Advice from the Patent Bar: A Roundtable Discussion of our Court’s Practices.”  The workshop addressed the Court’s practices and procedures in patent cases, including potential areas needing improvement to further streamline patent litigation and curb excessive or wasteful litigation practices.

In particular, Lizza focused his discussion on procedures for injunction applications in Hatch-Waxman patent cases with a 30-month stay, as well as improvements to Local Patent Rule 3.7, which addresses amendments to the required Local Patent Rule disclosures.  The Workshop was attended by nearly all of the District Judges and Magistrate Judges.
