CHICAGO — Arnstein & Lehr LLP Chicago partners Adam Fayne, Manuel Flores and Karen Harris hosted a webinar called, “Physicians’ Guide to Medical Cannabis in Illinois,” with leading medical cannabis cultivator Cresco Labs. Dr. Charles Bush-Joseph of Rush University Medical Center also presented.

The program focused on the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Pilot Program Act of Illinois, implemented on January 1, 2014. Mr. Fayne, Mr. Flores, and Ms. Harris shed light on legal issues, including physician qualifications, required documents to apply and undergo certification, and medical record requirements. The webinar emphasized the rules that doctors must follow in order to legally certify a patient for Illinois’ medical cannabis program.

"The goal of this program was to help educate physicians as to where medical cannabis may fit in their treatment regimen for patients with serious medical problems, often refractory to other conventional therapies," said Dr. Bush-Joseph.
