Five Things Your Condominium Association Needs to Know About the New Chicago Home-Sharing Ordinance

Arnstein & Lehr LLP partner David Sugar recently authored an article, "Five Things Your Condominium Association Needs to Know About the New Chicago Home-Sharing ('Airbnb') Ordinance." Mr. Sugar outlines several key components of the Home-Sharing Ordinance that Chicago-based Board members and condominium association managers need to know.

If your association prohibits rentals for a period of less than 31 consecutive days and your association wants to be listed on the “Prohibited Buildings List,” an authorized agent of your association (e.g., managing agent, Registered Agent or Board member) must complete, sign and submit a written request to the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection using the  City’s “Affidavit for Inclusion In Prohibited Buildings List” form. The completed and notarized form must be submitted to:  Department of Business Affairs & Consumer Protection, ATTN: Prohibited Buildings List, 121 N.
