Judith Grubner publishes article in World Patent and Trademark News Magazine
Arnstein & Lehr Chicago Partner Judith Grubner authored an article for Wold Patent and Trademark News Magazine titled, "'Charbucks' is not a Blurring Trademark Dilution of 'Starbucks,'" for the magazine's May 2014 edition. The article discusses a case brought against Wolfe's Borough Coffee, Inc. in which Starbucks Corporation accused them of trademark dilution. Wolfe's used a black bear named "Mr. Charbucks" to promote their product. After trial in 2005, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York concluded that the icon was not likely to dilut Starbucks' famous marks.
