Karen Harris to Speak at International Association of Insurance Receivers Seminar
May 14, 2014

Partner Karen Harris participated in the 2014 International Association of Insurance Receivers (IAIR) Technical Development Series V seminar entitled “The Data Clouds Look Stormy: Information and Data Management in Receiverships.”

The seminar is scheduled for June 5-6 at the Doubletree Hotel in Rosemont, Illinois.  Karen will co-present a discussion of the privacy and security rules and consequences/penalties stemming from HIPAA, ACA and other regulations through examples of poor data management/security, inadvertent disclosures, and historic, but outdated, practices.

In addition, other presenters will discuss technology to protect critical private data, insurance coverage for data breaches, and many related issues of interest to anyone responsible for taking care of other people’s private information.

Though organized by the IAIR, the program covers topics of likely interest to many in the healthcare industry.  It is co-sponsored by the Insurance Regulation Committee of the ABA Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice Section.  IAIR will be requesting CLE credit in Illinois.  To learn more about the program, please click here.
