Lizza Sleeps Out to Raise Money for Covenant House Programs for Homeless Youth

(Newark, NJ, November 16, 2012) -- Charles M. Lizza, a Partner in Saul Ewing’s Newark, NJ office, brought attention to the plight of homeless youth on November 15, 2012 by participating in the Covenant House Sleep Out in New York City. He was among several hundred business leaders who spent the night outside on the streets at Covenant House sites across the United States, Canada, and Latin America to raise money for homeless kids across North America. The event raised more than $2.6 million.

Charles set a personal goal to raise $15,000, and he exceeded it by raising $16,700. The money that he and others raised will benefit Covenant House. The organization supports more than 50,000 young homeless people in 21 cities across North America each year by providing them a safe place to stay and support through street outreach teams.

“I decided to give up the comforts of home knowing it can bring warmth and hope to young people who need its most, “Charles said. “Thousands of kids sleep on the streets every night. I hope my one night helps shed a light of comfort on them and contributes to Covenant House’s mission of love.”

Charles has served on the Covenant House New York Board of Directors since the mid-1990s and was its Chairman from 1999-2004. At Saul Ewing LLP, he is Vice-Chair of the Commercial Litigation Practice and Co-Chair of the Life Sciences Practice.
