Pennsylvania court says payroll cards are not “lawful money”

Greg Wartman, a partner in Saul Ewing’s Commercial Litigation Practice, authored this article that reviews a case about whether the Pennsylvania Wage Payment and Collection Law (WPCL) allows an employer to distribute its wages via bank payroll cards. The article notes that this is the first case of its kind in Pennsylvania.
