Kevin Barber advises clients nationwide on major commercial real estate and development deals, the means to finance them, and loan workouts and restructuring when projects are affected by unforeseen circumstances. Drawing on more than 20 years of experience as a real estate and commercial finance attorney, Kevin assists public companies, private developers and REITs with acquisitions, sales, preferred equity investments, joint ventures, and low-income and subsidized housing transactions. His lending work for private equity funds and commercial lending institutions includes structuring, documentation and negotiation of complex mortgage loans, mezzanine loans and commercial loan workouts. In addition, he counsels institutional landlords, commercial tenants and other owners and operators of commercial real estate.

Acquisitions and Financing
Advised a private developer in connection with its acquisition and financing through private placement bonds of a portfolio of multi-family apartment complexes in Atlanta, Georgia
Advised a private developer in connection with its acquisition and preferred equity financing of a $32 million multi-family apartment complex in southern New Jersey, subject to a PILOT Agreement with the local municipality
Advised a joint venture with a private developer and a publicly-traded REIT in connection with the acquisition and financing of a portfolio of multi-family apartment complexes in the Atlanta, Georgia metro-area
Advised a private joint venture in connection with its acquisition and financing of a Class A office building in Boston, Massachusetts
Advised a publicly-traded REIT in connection with a securitized loan secured by three commercial properties in Brooklyn, New York
Advised a mortgage lender in connection with a $26 million loan secured by a mixed-use property located in Las Vegas, Nevada
Loan workouts and restructuring
Advised an REO lender in the sale of a fractured condominium/hotel project in Miami, Florida
Advised an institutional lender in the restructuring and documentation of an asset-based loan to a medical technology company
Advised a private equity fund in connection with the acquisition of multiple distressed loan portfolios from HUD
