Steven J. Picco

With more than 35 years of experience as an environmental and energy lawyer, Steven Picco focuses his practice in administrative, environmental and energy law, government affairs and land use. He has served as an Assistant Commissioner of both the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) and the New Jersey Department of Energy. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the New Jersey Water Supply Authority, having been recently reappointed by Governor Christie.

Steven’s nationally recognized work in the environmental area includes representing clients in litigation matters, government relations, government contracts, and administrative appeals. In the energy arena, he represents clients on issues relating to alternative energy projects, including siting, permitting, financing and governmental incentives. He also represents clients on land use and zoning matters at the local level.

Steven provides strategic and governmental affairs advice to businesses throughout the country. He has represented projects at port facilities on the East Coast and throughout the Gulf Coast. He is actively involved in advising clients involved in the Marcellus and Utica plays, and assisting in the planning and development of infrastructure projects for the movement and ultimate delivery of that product.

In addition to his service on the New Jersey Water Supply Authority, Steven has served as a Commissioner and Chair on the Delaware River Basin Commission, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority and on the boards and committees of other governmental, civic and charitable organizations within the region and nationally.

He is frequently tapped to speak and write on a range of environmental and economic development issues.
