Steven Appelbaum is an experienced commercial litigator who represents individuals and companies involved in disputes related to real estate, creditor’s rights, corporate divorces, employment matters, and theft of trade secrets. Steven enjoys gaining a deep understanding of his clients’ business operations and objectives to develop customized and creative strategies to minimize risk, and, if necessary when conflict arises, to aggressively pursue or defend his clients’ rights.

A significant portion of Steven’s practice relates to real estate. Steven represents lenders, servicers, title companies, property managers, developers, and purchasers through the commercial real estate life cycle, including disputes arising during acquisition, financing, ownership, management and disposition. He litigates and counsels clients on issues related to underperforming and distressed real estate loans, forbearance and workout agreements, complex commercial mortgage foreclosures, receiverships, landlord-tenant disputes, title defects, and construction defects.

Steven litigates single-plaintiff and class actions based on state and federal statutes impacting real estate and consumer financial transactions, including Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Acts, the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Truth In Lending Act (TILA), Home Ownership and Equity Protection Act (HOEPA), Retail Installment Sales Financing Act (RISFA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), and Florida Telephone Solicitation Act (FTSA).

Steven also protects companies from disloyal employees and the theft of their trade secrets and proprietary data, and he litigates claims arising from the workplace.
